Knowing whether a patient has a bacterial infection has a direct impact on reducing unnecessary antibiotic prescriptions, limiting the spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, and helping providers know when to initiate treatment.
FebriDx® is a rapid point-of-care test that uses a fingerstick blood sample to aid in the differentiation of bacterial from viral infection.
This assay aids in the evaluation of infection by identifying and differentiating a clinically significant immune response to a suspected viral and/or bacterial infection in patients 1 year of age or older that present within 3 days of an acute onset fever (exhibited or reported) and within 7 days of new-onset respiratory symptoms consistent with a community-acquired acute respiratory infection.
FebriDx® is intended to be used in urgent and emergency care settings.
